Today: ‘Do we Europeans care?’ Tomorrow: ‘Do Africans care to help Europe in a disaster?’

Published: 07 December 2010

An active discussion on the question “Do Europeans care about the rest of the world?” (specifically about African countries) took place on the second European Development Day on the 7 December in Brussels.

The panelists were sure that everybody, who considers him or herself a reasonable human being, should care about starving and underdeveloped societies.

Thou, how to explain that to unemployed people in Estonia, who often themselves have not much to eat?

One of the answers may be that, they will also help us when we will be in need and they will become strong and developed.

Ahto Lobjakas- an Estonian Brussels based journalist dealing with development issues expresses his opinion.
