Vad den ena handen ger, tar den andra igen

What one hand gives, the other takes away. Rural dairy farmers in Cameroon get cattle from a European aid organisation, only to be ruined years later by subsidised milk powder imported from the EU. Never before has the EU been more focused on supporting the developing countries. At the same time the EU is still exporting goods and dumping prices in these countries.
The common agricultural policy of the European Union is under reform. The first proposal from the Commission was presented in November 2010, leaving out the urgent issue of the developing countries. The agricultural reform will be the ultimate test for the EU to live up to one of the aims of the Lisbon treaty – to ensure consistency among the different areas of its external action and all other policies.
