English summary: The eight Millennium Development Goals are the basis of development in relation to the current European Development Strategy. These goals are clearly outlined and each explained in accordance to their relevance on the subject: poverty. Roughly 25,000 people die every day of hunger-related causes. The European-Africa Strategy has drawn up a scheme for possible future development in order to significantly reduce the number of deaths. This article discusses the main points the European Union wishes to communicate through its development aid. It also outlines what needs the most attention: education. The urgency for complete reform in the educational system in developing countries is explicit and clearly conveyed in the article. Although the European Union is extremely dedicated and ahead in its proposals for development and reform, there is still a long way to go. But the European Union is clearly on the right track.
