MEET: Kieran Cuddihy

Application article:

EC Aid

English summary: This article looks at the positive impact of EU development assistance through the prism of an Irish aid organisation, Trocaire. With EU funding, Trocaire has been able to transform the landscape and lives of Ethiopia. Infertile soils and intolerable conditions have made way for irrigation, crops and livestock. The local people are slowly dismissing the spectre of famine. The development community faces challenges over the coming years, particularly from tighter budgets. It is important that as priorities are rearranged, the focus remains on those who depend on assistance for their very existence.
