Development in Morocco

Morocco is one of the countries receiving development aid from the European Union. Much of this financial support goes to helping educational projects in rural areas where access to school is not easy, especially for women. In Morocco, half of the population is illiterate. The location of this country, very close to Spain, shows the big contrast between northern Africa and the European Union. Development aid can help improve basic education and build new classrooms, dining halls and health centres. Al Jadida, on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, is a good example.
