EU development assistance

English summary: Money is not always the best form of aid for poor countries. Sometimes what is needed most from powerful countries is the hope, faith and strength to improve. The UN can only offer advice, but faith is the promoter of success. In economic matters, poor countries don’t need aid and pity, they need investors. For example, in a country like South Africa, investors can easily choose a gold, silver or diamond mine and not only make a fortune out of it, but also help the entire economy put one foot on the ladder of progress. Step by step, one investor after another can build the future of the poor countries. The only question that remains is “When?” Last, but not least, the political environment in countries like South Africa remain uncertain. Corruption is a major obstacle, requiring reform from top to bottom.
